Tree Wraps / Vole Guards

Tree wraps or vole guards are key to protecting trees from rodents in the first few years of growth.  Pastures can have especially high populations of mice and voles which crave the mineral-rich bark at the bottom of the stem.  Since these creatures are fairly small, the vole guards need to be only a few inches in height.  Tree wraps come 31 inches tall but can be cut into 3 or 4 pieces to make short vole guards. Press them in the soil just a bit to keep rodents from getting access to your young trees. Use at full size to protect against deer or small ruminants. Screen mesh design breathes to avoid moisture build-up for those species that require more air flow to the trunk. Protects stems up to 4 inches in diameter.
