Streamco Willow 18″ Cutting (fall delivery)

This is one we recommend for fodder blocks, as Streamco willows stay small with fine branches. Growth of first-year branches is shown. The fine branches make this among the easiest of willows to cut back regularly, whether by hand or mechanically, and cutting it back keeps the browse within reach of stock. The shrubs only get to about 12′ tall. Willows in general have higher tannin content in the leaves, which can be useful for addressing parasites and can help neutralize the effects of toxic fescue. Will do best in wet to moderately drained areas. The less competition the plants have in the first two years, the better.

Trees will come as 18” unrooted, dormant cuttings. Soak them in water for a day before putting in the soil, and then stick them 10-12” into the soil. Good weed protection and a tree shelter will give much better growth. Choose areas that have plenty of soil moisture.

$25 per bundle. Sold in bundles of 10 cuttings. $12 per bundle for 10+ bundles.

Shipping: This product will ship out in late November or early December. If your ground is likely to be frozen by that time, we recommend a spring shipment.
