Hybrid Poplar 18″ Cutting (fall delivery)

Few trees can match the fast growth rate of a hybrid poplar. Can readily grow to 8’ in a single season, and 12-15’ in two years. Use them for quick shade in pastures ranging from wet (though not saturated) to well-drained. Can also be pollarded (cut above browse height) to provide fodder during summer months. We typically use them as fast growing shade trees that will be removed in a decade as slower-growing trees fill in. Make sure to keep competing vegetation down in the first critical years.

Trees will come as 18” unrooted, dormant cuttings. Soak them in water for a day before putting in the soil, and then stick them 10-12” into the soil. Good weed protection and a tree shelter will give much better growth.

$25 per bundle. Sold in bundles of 10 cuttings. $12 per bundle for 10+ bundles.

Shipping: This product will ship out in late November or early December. If your ground is likely to be frozen by that time, we recommend a spring shipment.
