Kokuso Mulberry (2-4′)

$48.00

Kokuso is a vigorous, adaptable dual-purpose tree for both fruit and leaf fodder. Fruits are large, have good flavor and ripen earlier than Illinois Everbearing. The leaves are large and glossy. Kokuso is reportedly even hardier than Illinois Everbearing and grown even farther north (up into Minnesota—zones 5-9).

Our mulberries are grown from tissue culture. We have selected clonal propagation from tissue culture over grafting because it offers a superior product. As a complete clone, the entire plant has the same genetics. With a grafted tree the top is different from the rootstock (also called understock) that it is grafted on. If the tree dies back below the graft, through delayed graft incompatibility or livestock damage or a brush hog or some other cause, what you’re left with is an expensive generic seedling. With a complete clone from tissue culture, the entire plant has the right genetics.

Volume discounts: 1-9 trees for $48. 10-99 trees for $24. 100+ trees for $17.

Shipping: We will ship trees in March unless otherwise requested.
